Christopher Burke and Günther Sandner have published History and legacy of Isotype (Bloomsbury, 2024). The book, based on extensive archival research, "provides a fresh perspective on the early history of Isotype and pictographic communication, with new information about largely unknown episodes throughout its development". Chapters include discussions of the Vienna Method in schools, pictorial statistics in Austria during the dictatorships, Isotype in exile, the Austrian Social and Economic Museum after 1945, Marie Neurath and Gerd Arntz on separate paths, and Rudolf Modley and the 'Americanization' of Isotype.
