September 2008

Christopher Burke, together with Department colleague Katherine Gillieson, and Michelle Henning (University of the West of England) presented perspectives on Isotype at the 'Networks of design' conference hosted by University College Falmouth. Their papers were titled 'Picture pedagogy: Isotype as a political and educational instrument' (Burke), 'Marie Neurath's Isotype books: information design transforms children's non-fiction' (Gillieson), and 'Picture languages and other things: the materiality of Isotype' (Henning). They also convened a panel discussion under the rubric 'Contexts, connections and complexity: perspectives on Isotype'.
